Before you get up at 4am to head to the mall........
Think about shopping local. I am already seeing the commercials on TV for Pre-Black Friday sales. Don't succumb to the mass hysteria, just head down your block and shop like a human. I also have to say, I am all for giving experiences as gifts too. Go see a local band, get a drink at a neighborhood bar or make a great party appetizer from cheese you got at the farmers market. You can even walk through the Olympic Sculpture Park with family and friends on a clear fall day (wearing Edie's shoes of course). We are excited for this holiday season, we hope to see you in the store and shopping local around town. Happy Holidays

Kick off the holidays in style
Well I guess I have finally said goodbye to summer and am embracing the fall/winter season. I am starting my holiday ritual. I am going out once a week to visit and enjoy the many beautiful bars of the city. They take on an extra beauty around this time of year. Candle light, holiday decor and a menu of hot toddies and Irish coffees. This gives me the excuse to dress up, feel festive and explore my city a little bit more. The picture above is of the Polar Bar. I also have on my list The Four Seasons, The Edge Water and would love any of your favorite bar suggestions. The shoes below are just in from All Black "cutout pat" $124 in burgundy patent and matte black. They will go perfectly with a pom-tini, old fashioned or a Makers. Happy Holidays!

Get Inspired
Just saw this movie last night, Visual Acoustics, and I really enjoyed it. It follows the career of Julius Schulman, a photograher of modernist architecture. From "retro" houses in Palm Springs, to outlandish houses on the L.A. hillsides, it is inspiring to learn about the movement and the amazing man who documented it all. It will make you look at things with a new appreciation for design and form. Here is a summary and to go along with the film, check out the lines on this Biviel bootie. Style 2750 $165
Visual Acoustics celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world's greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman, who passed away('08) this year, captured the work of nearly every modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California's modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images. As cool, fall weather sneaks in..
One of my favorite things to do in Seattle is to curl up with a great read. I'm pretty excited to check out The Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume 1, which is being released this November. Mark Twain requested on his death bed that the three volume autobiography was not to be printed for 100 years.. 100 years! Historians are divided about why Twain wanted to wait so long, but there is speculation that he either wanted to talk freely about religion and politics, or that he just didn't want to worry about offending any friends! Either way, there is something so romantic about a memoir being unsealed and released from such an iconic literary figure..
Just in time to grab your copy and get cozy at home, we have these awesome new slip-ons from Camper! These comfy little guys are available for men in charcoal grey, and for women in light grey and a muted red. They are made from recycled components and have a rubber sole, perfect for when you need to run up to your local coffee shop for a refill!

Gulf Restoration Network (GRN)
GRN has mobilized all available resources to monitor and respond to BP's oil drilling disaster and is calling on BP and the federal government to clean up this oil disaster and make coastal communities whole again.
GRN is a 16-year old environmental advocacy non-profit that works to unite and empower people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf of Mexico region for future generations. The 3 Birds
So, the three birds worked a long day of chirping and flying around Seattle. When the sun finally set onto the land- they were parched and starving. The ladies enjoyed an evening in the classic-diner style of the Mecca Cafe located in Lower Queen Anne. Each bird brightened the black and white tile floor with their vibrant color choices. They danced the night away with the swingin' jukebox!

Summer Toes
Oh, those summer toes! For some of us, bearing our toes to the world is not as easy as it looks. Yes, we've all heard about the dreaded swimsuit season, but toes rank pretty high up on the insecurity list too. That's why all the nail salons are in high gear right now, trying to make our tootsies as pretty as they can be. For me, it has been the longer second toe. For years it kinda drove me crazy, but then it was pointed out to me that many women in classical paintings and sculpture have a longer second toe. The Birth of Venus is one example. So what I had thought was ugly, turns out to be the mark of a beautiful women. So, don't worry your pretty little feet anymore about those toes. Show them off in these beautiful sandals by Gentle Souls, B. Gabe, $175. (avail. in black and brown) You are a Goddess!
